Ugh. My wife suggested that we watch this because it looked good in the ads. I haven't watched this kind of television in many years because of the political overtones, and useless pandering to whatever special group Hollywood wants to impress. Entitled actors playing the parts of entitled doctors and nurses on a very entitled ship. At first I was excited because I like Don Johnson and of course a forever fan of the old Miami Vice, and Love Boat. To me this thing fell pretty flat...and was just way too unrealistic to be anything remotely worth watching. I mean the doctors "quarters" are larger than the nicest onboard suite on any cruise ship!
The medical staff immediately starts "one uping" and judging each other and competing for affections etc. All pretty much on the first day or two. Not to mention doing a couple of quick onboard surgeries (ridiculous). Then a guy on molly falls overboard and there's not one pair of thermal binoculars on board (std issue). Instead of the medical staff staying on board and preparing for whatever, they are the ones out in the search boat (where are the trained rescue staff? There seems to be unlimited sexy lifeguards all over the boat yet none of them participated in a water rescue ) and of course the doctor is the one that dives (2 feet high) into the water to save the drowning man. He is then congratulated on his "really awesome" dive of 2 feet. At this point I couldn't take any more. My suggestion to people willing to spend an hour of their lives watching evening television---read a book. I've read a ton in the past few years and have never felt an instant of regret. This was 30 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Yuk.
