At least Downton Abbey was realistic to the period. This programme is anything but. It is so anachronistic in almost every way, forcing 21st C values and mores (even music) into the regency period. I am all for greater equality in the arts but forcing racial equality into a period when it certainly was not the case surely does no favours to anyone. I thought I was watching a period drama. It was anything but. I found myself getting angry and shan’t be watching any more.
