The show is very well-acted. But...read the book. Read the book. Read the book. Book's sub-plots and characters and chronology are all far different than the show, and much less "dramatic" and way more "real." Not sure why the production developers deviated so greatly from the story, as it was interesting enough that it could have been brought to the screen "as is."
