Absolutely love this series. I think it rivals the original if not better & that is quiet an accomplishment. As someone who does not like master rule 4 & links due to its restrictive nature, the show is amazing despite how link monsters are a major part in the show. Have gotten used to links & they do add an interesting layer to the game, I just don't like how it nerfs everything else before it. However despite this; the show, its plot & character development are top noch. After the previous 2 series of yugioh have been very childish, this series gets very dark while maintaining some humor to it executed by a much more serious looking animation style. A major element of this series is about free will, what it means to have free will & how that relates to AI and technology becoming "self aware" which is very relevant to real life today. Its very deep & meaningful. This is the element of the show that I believe rivals or surpasses the original. The main antagonist (Revolver) is very well made as this is one of the few times where I am convinced the villain is justified and has good motive to do what he does. There are some criticisms of the show that I have, but those are overshadowed by how well this show is executed. Vastly underrated & underappreciated.
