This book makes addiction come out of the closet. Most people don't see what addiction really is, why it takes hold of so many people. Nic Sheff captures what the road to recovery is about, how fast it can turn upside-down, and how hard it is to get back on your feet again. He also shows that just because you are struggling through addiction, the addict in you makes you do stupid things, but no matter what you are a good person underneath. And no matter how you messed up when you were struggling, you have to hold yourself accountable for your actions. It's a truly inspiring read. I do recommend to read it relatively quick, mainly because I think he does such a good job of writing about the effects of everything it puts you in that mindset, like you feel you're speeding as well. Its an odd feeling, but I figured I'd put that out there.
