I’m hooked. Can’t put it down. On to Vol 2 now, just as good as as Chasing Shadows, with the character development increasing and the relationships between the characters adding depth and narrative interest.
It’s also well-written, smoothly done, which was more than I’d expected. Also, for a series written by a team of men, the female characters are excellently portrayed, without misogyny or sexism, with a modern sensibility. Again, much more than I expected!
The short chapters recounting historical sightings and events are also great.
I’d like a companion volume or an illustrated coffee table edition with photos and historical documents, and footnotes. I will be sorry to get to the end!
