After watching this movie for the 3rd time, this movie has some captivating lessons that need to be learned again in our nations history. Keep in mind, I’m no history expert. Nonetheless, at this point in history, President Abraham Lincoln is in his second term in midst of the civil war(one of the bloodiest wars in American history) and the passage of the thirteenth amendment. Not only are there lessons to be learned in this film, but Abraham Lincoln was one of the better Presidents in American history. He was a true leader. it would’ve been way easier for him to accept the surrender of the opposing side and end the war entirely without the amendment. But he knew that doing so would not satisfy his schedule. He needed to pass the amendment as well, especially when he has it on the cup of his hand. My favorite scene was with the common notions, how he says that everything that equals the same thing is equal to each other. How he blends that fact with the understanding of slavery and equality. Anyway..as a nation, we have been analyzing the quickest way out of tough situations. We want to argue and rant about what we all say in social media, and who said what. Does that really accomplish anything? Yes this is a slow movie filled with boring facts, a movie about Abraham Lincoln is pretty boring..unless you know the entire weight of what he accomplished. Ending the bloodiest war in American history and passing one of the most controversial amendments at the same time, in his second term. Words can’t describe how crucial this time was.
