Difficult and sad story line; aptly portrays challenges for poor people in American 'boondocks'. All characters appear to be seeking least bad choices in extremely deprived circumstances. Substance abuse is virtually inevitable as anaesthetic to depressing lives. The last few minutes are particularly poignant; given all the pain she caused the rodeo man, the ending is surprising and even maybe optimistic.
