My Brutally Honest Review of Severance
I gave Severance a shot, hoping for a mind-bending psychological thriller with deep intrigue and a satisfying payoff. Instead, after two seasons of painfully slow development, what I got was a frustrating exercise in patience. The show drags out its mystery at an unbearable pace, teasing answers but never delivering anything substantial.
At first, the premise is intriguing—a company that severs employees' consciousness into separate work and personal identities. But instead of building toward a logical, cohesive resolution, Severance piles on endless cryptic details with no clear direction. It feels like the writers are making things up as they go, throwing in bizarre subplots without a plan to tie them together. The result? A show that pretends to be profound but ultimately feels like a slow, meandering mess.
If you enjoy watching characters stare off into space for minutes at a time while nothing happens, this might be for you. Otherwise, run. Don’t get sucked into this black hole of wasted time. Do literally anything else with your life—it will be more rewarding than watching Severance.
