"doom days" is one of my favorite albums from bastille, if not one of my favorite albums of all time. in my opinion, the way that this album tells an entire story of a night out amidst a world surrounded with chaos, very much similar to our own, is amazing -- i find that it's interesting how they take us through the night, with each song set at a specific time. this concept album is one in which everyone can relate to in some way, touching on more controversial topics, such as climate change and government-related issues, as well as the mixed feelings in which one faces after a long night out. i love how dan doesn't hesitate to call out a particular group of people, commenting on issues that he believes needs to be fixed and/or altered. i think that the variety of genres in which they used, from experimenting with more upbeat EDM to more melancholy, piano-based pieces, effectively conveys universal ideas of escapism and a longing for someone to love. well done dan, kyle, woody, and will! x
