I don't know how to feel about this movie, part of it was trash, part of it was good, but read if you want.
I just watched this today and I have to say I kept looking at my phone at times which is not good if you're trying to get me invested in this.
I love Mortal Kombat since MK3, but this movie just felt off to me. It didn't follow the OG plot or the Reboot plot from the games.
I know Lewis Tan is a good actor, but his character of Cole Young was unnecessary to the plot, literally. If his character was added or made as the son/grandson of Scorpion in the game before the movie I would've been fine, but he is brand new and just makes me wonder what is going on. His wife and kid also irrelevant sorry not sorry.
Liu Kang is supposed to be the central character to show his leadership and he was just pushed to the side. The arcana did make a bit of sense, since the games never explain on how some characters can use super human moves so I do appreciate that. Kung Lao also got pushed to the side. Which is really stupid, since there was no actual tournament. I'd understand if there was and he died, but there wasn't.
I also didn't appreciate that we did not get Kitana nor Johnny in the film. Especially since they added mileena, kitanas sister/clone. Nitara was like a damn cameo as she only lasted 5 minutes in the movie. Whats the point of adding someone only to kill them off right away. It was pointless. Reiko.......I'm just gonna leave it at that.
I'm just gonna say it, but the animated version of MK was way better than the live action.
I hope that whoever takes control of a sequel, if there is any, that it's better than this Reboot. And maybe give Cole a different story part than central character, no offense he has not earned that spot.
