Apart from the gruesome beginning and the brutality of the war scenes which included the death of many horses, I thoroughly enjoyed this depiction of Napoleon. The relationship between him and Josephine was raw and often highly sensitive. It affirms the inability of humans to valve life throughout history through greed and power.

Absolutely excellent, fabulous acting, gorgeous quintessential English settings, brilliant script. Sensitively directed, beautifully paced. A joy to watch.
