Sixty Not Out

It’s terrible. Gone are the days when you could watch a well acted thriller with a sound plot. The surprising thing is some people liked it. I guess when the standards are so consistently low then even this seems alright.

Fauda. Chaos. What an apt name for this region and the complicated layers within layers. It’s certainly exciting to watch, the character Doron is a stand out for me. His inscrutable gaze and hard man persona, a mask for a sensitive caring man. Some of the acting is just plain terrible, and some of the makeup for injuries is almost laughable in today’s modern world of makeup. However, the excitement and tension is palpable. Especially when the unit goes behind the lines so to speak. Lots of emotion with the males too, so unlike stereotypical European males.

Well fellow Alien lovers, it was with bated breath and plenty of junk food to munch on that I sat down in front of the xtreme screen in Hamilton New Zealand to Watch the latest instalment of Alien. For those of us that have watched the Alien movies over and over there was plenty of subtle and not so subtle references, awesome! The special effects are insane, again awesome. However, for me, the young actors missed the mark, there just wasn’t the tension that Ripley brought in so easily. As for Andy, that accent and the English accents of the others, what was that’s about. For me, the really scarey bits weren’t scary at all. However all in all, entertaining, good excuse to eat sugar delights!

It’s amazing isn’t it, stranded on an island, everyone is slim and attractive and wearing makeup. Oh, let’s go for a swim! Good idea! No fresh water, no food, no shelter, let’s go for a swim and get really dehydrated and sunburnt.....watch out for the sharks! Yum yum.......great special effects......not!This is tackier than treacle left in the sun. Honestly, entertainment? I would rather watch paint dry.....
