I have to agree with the many negative comments. I persevered due to the positive ones I read here. Like another reader I checked out these reviews because I couldn’t make head nor tail of the first section. It did improve somewhat but I’m still not sure what actually happened re Penny/Clay and “the Murderer” and that bloody peg Clay carried around all through the book only to find a sort of explanation at the end. Very frustrating! Didn’t think it was poetic at all. Some of those descriptions were psychedelic!! Very contrived. Would definitely not recommend it.
