Here's the only review that matters---
Look, if you're rushing here from TikTok after seeing a few 3 second clips and funny screenshot from a 2 hour movie to leave a hasty review about how the movie "sucks" I promise you you're going to want to read this.
Surprise, it doesn't suck. Far from it in fact. If you're able to suspend your disbelief for a few moments (I also think Ben Platt looks a bit off playing 17) you'll see a beautiful narrative that still holds all the same emotional beats and well-crafted songs from the original stage musical. I didn't love Colton Ryan's Connor, some of the mixing was a bit off, and Jared wasn't as funny as one would hope but these are simply nitpicks. Most of the cast gave wonderful performances, the new songs were great (especially "A Little Closer"), and I can't believe that people aren't talking about how well shot it is.
The moral of the story is this, please stop basing your opinions on what a few people from TikTok are saying, you're a unique individual who is capable sitting down for a few hours and forming your own opinion.
P.S. RIP Anybody Have A Map, To Break In A Glove, Disappear, and Good For You---you will be missed.
