Simply put, Artemis Fowl, is a major Disney disappointment. When the first trailer for the film was released, there were already signs of trouble as its tone and look seemed to draw from other Disney flops i.e A Wrinkle In Time, Tomorrowland, etc.
The plot is ridiculously difficult to follow thanks to its lack of cohesiveness and subpar editing. Sequences do not string together well. Characters and subplots are introduced and left to the dust by the end, leaving you to watch your step at every hole created within the story.
The thing about Artemis Fowl is that it craves the big-screen, with its decent to well-shot action along with the sprawling Irish landscapes. Nevertheless, visual aesthetic alone can't save what is a mush of a plot.
As Artemis Fowl is Ferdia Shaw's maiden voyage into the world of acting, it's just a shame that this young fellow had to headline this travesty. Hopefully, he'll be able to land more roles and distance himself from this film.
This is easily one of the worst films of 2020.
