Mike Cahill is maybe a little too smart for the business he’s in. You aren’t likely to be immediately satisfied upon finishing this excellent film, or even necessarily to be immediately clear on which genre of film it was you just watched; not until —& unless you’re inclined & capable of— digesting it. But that’s because people generally don’t go to the movies to ‘chase something real.’
