Fall Guy is an action-packed romantic comedy film about a stuntman trying to get the woman of his dreams, said woman who becomes a director for a film. The stuntman has an accident and ghosts this girl of his dreams, she gets mad at him and now the stuntman/ryan gosling/colt now has to win back her trust- but he seems to not always pursue her.
The cast is great and the acting is also great, the narrative can get extensive and a bit exhaustive at times, the cinematography is superb, the sound design is incredible, and the overall setup is enjoyable.
The reason why this review is a three star instead of a five star lies in the narrative, and the choices that the stuntman/ryan gosling makes- It can get frustrating at times when he makes choices that seem illogical in the situation and are just caused to further dramatize the situation... For example, the lack of communication between Colt and his crush, Jody... It seems all over the place in some parts because of this aspect.
Nonetheless, it was incredibly entertaining, and the action sequences are fun to watch and the emotional sequences are incredibly relatable. It is a bit ironic though, in that the cast for the stuntman isn't a stuntman but instead an actor who has a stunt double- which is ironic to its whole plot, but that's getting a bit meta.
Honestly, the movie is worse if you take it seriously so just go in and expect something entertaining rather than something detailed with the most logical and wise decisions to be made- don't get involved with it too much then it becomes an incredibly entertaining movie.
