The message behind the movie, and the message delivered, was great. Hopefully some of our black people, especially the young ones, have open eyes and minds to comprehend and receive those messages.
However, All due respect to Nate Parker, a
very talented man, and Spike Lee, a truly talented legend. I can only offer 3 stars. I feel as if the ending was unjust. And it left me feeling emotionally bothered, as a black person.
Now, I know this was just a movie, but, a movie reflecting reality, supposedly, right????. Then why was the ending not written that way. Well actually it was... So I must rephrase that. It was written just as it should have been for America's Hollywood. 😏
So, Better yet, I'll ask why wasn't the ending written to shine a light on what could be a different reality. Why did the black grieving father, have to turn the cheek and show mercy to the white cop to only be killed in the end.
Why, because main stream media would not have aired the movie had the ending depicted that black man really getting justice and vendication.
So, they had to write it, just as they did so that America's Hollywood would accept it.
Black man have a voice just don't speak to loud.
The ending was totally realistic but totally not right. Even if the father was ultimately killed or imprisoned for life, he should have been fully vendicated. An eye for an eye... Not, cop takes an eye, black man gets screwed, gives a hug, and cops take another eye..
NOW BEFORE ANYONE GET IN THE COMMENTS AND JUMP DOWN MY THROAT.. I TOTALLY GET IT AND BY NO MEANS CONDONE inciting or promoting unwarranted violence towards law enforcement, and I have no bias against law enforcement, as I feel there are good cops amidst the bad apples, but to me, the ending Said he basically gave his life for nothing.
The cop still never paid a price for his actions... I would have felt a little better, maybe, had they played a last snippet at least showing the cop being arrested since he had admitted to profiling and lying. Something...
But, I'm going to close now. Because I could go on forever. And it's pointless. I just had to express myself..
