I almost didn’t watch because of all of the negative reviews. I’m so glad I looked past them. The acting and direction are mesmerizing. Glenn Close is brilliantly intense, but every role was played artfully. Amy Adams pulls off sweet perkiness mixed with abhorrent behavior. The likeness between. I didn’t grow up this way but my work has offered me the chance to meet families just like the one portrayed in this film. I found their story meaningful and hopeful.
