I'm sorry but this could have been written better and directed differently. I'm an avid lover of the original seasons. Rory is so far gone from her true self which I get is part of the plot but her literal character is questionable. The whole Summer episode and her drinking scotch from the desk and the way she is portrayed laying out by the pool judging and putting other people down along with Lorelai is not how I remember their character. They may be harsh on movies, music and books but not people. And omg the wasted time on that whole musical. Bits and pieces of the musical in between cuts of what Rory or Lane was doing would have been more palatable, but the nonstop focus on this ridiculous musical is worth missing. You get the point- we don't need to see the whole thing to appreciate that it's not worth appreciating. The actual plot and build up to the end could have been handled more naturally but it seemed more or less forced with the old boyfriend sightings. I hate the musical with the gorilla gang. It was cheesy. My how the mighty have fallen. The wait and build up of this reunion was a slap in the face to true fans. Like reality the town of Stars Hollow has become lame and tainted by modern day. It seemed to have lost it's innocence and charm while Taylor is trying desperately hold on to the town it once was. This proves that you can never go home again. Very disappointing.
