Ryan Schmidt in this comment thread couldn’t have said it better. The show went from a fantastic potential that could have evolved into a classic comic book narrative, to a very basic and poorly played out attempt at a super hero sitcom - starting at season 4. Like Downton Abbey Meets DC.
