My 8-year-old son's class is using this book to study the "pioneers" and asked me where the Black, Indigenous, Brown and Asian people are in the book. I had to explain to my son the book is written from a eurocentric -- european storytellers point of view. He questioned why if the Indigenous people were here before the settlers why were they not in the book.
