As a long time Edgar Wright, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Matt Smith fan, I was extremely disappointed with this film. While the visuals, performances, soundtrack were a treat after the first act the film kinda derails into absolute nonsense. The story is convoluted, the performance from Michael Ajao was awful, the characters were illogical and at some points even contradictory, not to mention tropey and basic, which would work in and other Wright film due to the undertones of irony within said other Wright films, yet that irony is completely absent in this mess. This film also wasn't scary at all and any attempt at scaring just made me laugh, the zombie effects were bad and didn't fit, the message was forced, the twists were god awful and unsatisfying, I didn't expect them but only because I didn't think Edgar Wright was bad at screenwriting, and not to mention the last scene was dragged out for way too long + the ending felt really forced. I guess Wright figured out that this story concept could never end on a happy note so he made up some random bullsh*t so it could have one. There are 3 car related jumpscares in this movie I kid you not.
