In the beginning, I was captivated. The plot was suspenseful and the characters keep you wanting more. At first, we’re given an introduction of each character’s background - what country they live in, their career and relationship status. It all flowed nicely until... slam! As soon as we were introduced to the lesbian characters they were having passionate sex on a bed with a dildo belt which was dangled in front of us after they “finished”. It was apparent that the person getting slammed was not only lesbian, but an adam’s apple who became a transgender woman. I am a young 32 year-old straight woman (by birth), and I respect the choices of everyone however I don’t need sexually explicit visuals shockingly shoved in my face, especially of trans sex. Since, as I said, none of the characters in straight relationships were introduced to us with steamy sex scenes... it’s apparent the creators played on our subconscious with this one. Those visuals stuck in my head like it or not. I gave it more chances, but each episode continued to have the same political and sexual agenda. There is 8 interesting and gifted characters - every time it switched to the transgender, her girlfriend had her tongue (or dildo) down her throat, or she was often at gay pride events cheering, or giving a sappy speech about her inner turmoil, with outer unacceptance by her family. I no longer could see the bigger picture of the show, because this political overtone overshadowed the heart of the series. After I ceased watching the show into the 5th episode, I was left confused. Is it about homosexuality, or Sense 8 with a supernatural sense?
