Should've been called 'Mr. & Mrs. Cole' or something.
If you come into this series expecting a high-octane, high-stakes mission-centric spy thriller, you won't find any. The action is sparse, while relationship drama takes center stage. When compared to the original movie, this show does not come even close to similarity in plot, pace, or character dynamics (which should explain the majority of the negative reviews). Wonder why they even bothered titling it after the movie. The only way to enjoy this show is to forget the movie it is supposedly based on. Imagine that movie never existed and hold this show in its own light. Then and only then can this be enjoyed.
This is a character-driven drama masterfully peppered with comedy, with spy elements as a backdrop. Fans of Hiro Murai and Donald Glover will have a good time, for the absurd, almost surrealist undertones they've come to expect from their work are present in this and they do not disappoint. The lead characters, while not compelling at first, are worth investing in even though at times it will feel like everything worth knowing about them is known in the first three episodes.
That said I watched the entire season in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it.
