Lurking somewhere beneath the surface of the ocean is "Science Fiction" the water soaked final album from emo/rock band Brand New. This isn't so much a final project, but a gigantic moodswing for the masses, the story of a man battered and bruised by life while struggling to be a better man. Describing an album as perfect has kind of lost its luster, so I'd rather toss out a different description, how about a career defining magnanimous that answers questions and leaves doors open just like life does. Every moment is brilliant, from the opening track "Lit Me Up" and it's sinister undertones to the lengthy closer "Batter Up" that perfectly sums up the erosion of the mind that has taken place over the course of 10 years. Don't let this album be the one that got away let it hurt you or impact you in some way because I is an experience that will never leave you as long as you give it a chance.
