The concept was fresh and out-of-the-box; the show started off slow, alright, built momentum and felt more engaging (esp when Evan Peters showed up: I literally screamed), but sometimes I would just feel hints of drab moments here and there, especially ones with unimpressive acting by side characters (very rarely, but at times Paul Bettany as well). Kathryn Hahn did well to seem like a character audiences' would have mixed feelings about: but towards the end, she barely felt "scary". I mean, she is supposed to be the "bad guy." Elizabeth Olsen delivered nothing less than to-the-point acting. The CGI of the dark clouds in E09 was off-putting for me. Also, I may be dead inside, but I could see, in E09 again, that the side characters such as Dottie and all were underplaying. If your children are being kept from you, you might try to sound more desperate. Or try tearing up.
But overall, I like the show. Not enough to be crazy about it though.
