Well at first I thought maybe it's the reader heart instincts, so I watched the movie again, and now I can surely say that I am hugely bummed.
Unlike the first one, 'To All The Boys I've Loved before', the sequal fails to capture the essence of the book version , hence the mind and imagination of a super excited fan.
When TATBILB came out in '18 it became a sensation within few hours , leaving a lasting impression that made me watch the movie of Nth number of time. It's still my go to movie.
Unfortunately I didn't feel that connection with this one. Noah was good as Noah being charming and dreamy while Lana managed the same with her portrayal of Lara Jean. But it's was Jordan and the little actor who played younger version of LJ that won my heart.
However all the main characters failed to bring out the chemistry for us to understand the dilemma between Team Peter and Team John Ambrose. The intimate scenes lacked lustre and movie felt horribly rushed. As a viewer one aint able to resonate with messy side of the cute young hearts. It was like the writers didn't want us to think Peter could be messing up or giving John actual competition. First Peter is being lame and douche while John is all puppy hearts, then in blink of an eye Peter is back to being the sweethear he is while John ends up devastated and embarrassed. And that really did hurtðŸ˜
Furthermore they left out certain key instances from the book , maybe that's for the third installment. Who knows!
Trevor, Chris,Lucas, Gen, Stormy were good at their parts too. Stormy really brought life to the otherwise dim characters. And the buddying romance between LJ's dad and their neighbor is too adorbs to be missed.
What made me happy that Gen and Lara could show their bad blood and warm heartedness in a subtle way rather than the cringy teen movies n series we get to see these days.
Also, this one has also got few memorable worthy scenes that will make you cry in excitement like the infamous hand in pocket and going all way to get korean yogurt scenes in the first one.
Songs and music track was again dope. And LJ's fashion is sooooooooooo lit! Especially the red dress 💃she wore for her first date. Cinematography was good too.
Although the sequel could have been better, but it's not a total letdown. If you just wanna have a Binge watch session this Valentine's, it's a good option.
