First off, the graphics in this game are pretty good. It is running on UE4, yet has a distinct atmosphere and feel to it. The fog in the game is the best I’ve ever seen. It looks and feels like a fog, you can barely see anything beyond a few meters.
The gunplay is quite good, better than L4D, yet it feels oddly similar to that game.
The card mechanic is quite interesting, refreshing, and unique. It honestly breathed fresh air into this dying genre, yet it has some drawbacks. On higher difficulty levels, the game becomes unforgiving when it comes to fairness. Most of the good cards have penalties and the “ game director” keeps throwing more difficult cards at you so that those cards slow you down or plain kill you.
There are some cheap tactics used in this game. Zombie spawns are way too ridiculous. They appear out of thin air, crawl out of the ground, or you see a huge guy squeezing through a freaking window!
In other instances, you are told not to aggravate a type of enemy called “Snitch”, but if you do, you have to kill it before it screams, and most of the time, you kill it with one shot and doesn't scream at all, yet horde starts to close in on you from everywhere. This kind of inconsistency ruins the game for me.
The game is quite fun to play on Recruit difficulty, but beyond that, the inconsistencies make the game a chore and annoying as hell.
