I'd like to take a moment to address some of the problems people have with the show. The music balance is a little off, but the scary music is there to remind you this is dangerous; these people make it look easy, but there are any number of ways they could die or get hurt any day. I'm tired of all the bad talk about Sue, she is amazing. I don't think she's being overly dramatic when she says that everything is life and death.
The Hailstones gather so much because they have a huge family, and a lot of people depending on them. They don't have a regular income so trading what they catch is a big way for them to make up for the deficit. I love that they show them parting out the animals that's some of the most interesting stuff for me and instructional. Not many of us would even know how to do that without spoiling the meat.
Finally, Andy has gotten a lot of flack for how he treated his woman, but most of the time it really didn't seem like she had any business being out there in the first place. He obviously knows what he's doing, but she obstinately would not listen to him. Sometimes what she did just seemed ignorant. Almost every time I saw him scream at her on the show it was because she made a boneheaded stubborn mistake that cost them either time effort or money, none of which they have an abundance.
The biggest thing I would love to see would be for some of them to start small hatcheries to stock the rivers and lakes near their camps. I'm not sure exactly how possible that is for them, but from a survival and from a conservationist standpoint I think this would be a great idea.
Keep up the good work guys and gals, you are all an inspiration!
