Those who say the narration is pessimistic, not it's not. The author shows us the truth which compels us to come to face with the cruelty of our actions. I have read some reviews where people say that some theories about human evolution are not correct. While I'm no expert in the subject matter, this book was an eye-opener for me. It made me question the value of my life and what am I giving to this planet and my fellow species. It made me empathetic about the lives of all those animals that we have made a living hell. This book makes me more conscious about my choices and less selfish in my thinking. It makes me more kind towards my fellow species and empathetic to their unbearable endless suffering. This book opens a world of suffering we humans have inflicted upon our fellow species in the name of advancement. No wonder why we are still so unhappy.

This book summarises the ideas and thoughts of some of the great philosophers that the world has known. It's a long read, yet you are only able to scratch the surface of what is philosophy. As a beginner, the book compels you to read some parts of it multiple times to get a grasp of the ideas. 3 stars due to my own incompetence to grasp it thoroughly. Some philosophers inspire you while some infuriate you. The book teaches you to be patient with it, just like philosophy.

Paul teaches us to be brave, to strive for perfection in whatever we do, to live with integrity, and die with integrity. He teaches us to be brave, to never back off from responsibilities, to be kind, to be empathetic, and to be cheerful. He teaches us to live a life of meaning and to not discount our ability to spread joy. He teaches us to always show up and to have plans A, B, and C.
