I cannot fault the 2019 version. I own the original too and felt the actors portrayed their characters brilliantly. I appreciate it’s not to everyone’s taste however, it is a brilliant adaptation of the original. It is supposed to be an upside down weird reality of cats and their lives! It’s a musical! Clearly the poor reviews are from people who do not appreciate art!
