This is not simply a free speech issue. I believe that no matter your political persuasion we should all agree that the sexualization of children is unacceptable. I do not believe you can exploit children to bring attention to exploitation of children. Netflix was attempting to make money off of the provocative nature of the posters and trailers of this film etc. The film itself might have a different goal and in the end, that goal might actually be reached. However, if Netflix and the film maker's “cared” about the sexual exploitation of children, the marketing would have been different and the “profit” would be used to help children, not go in their coffers. It’s an absurd premise to believe that sexually exploiting children, to bring attention to sexual exploitation of children, is ok. Netflix, each board member, and CEO Reed Hastings need to take clear decisive action or resign immediately. The sexualization of children should never be allowed.
