This book isn't poorly written at all, it has heart and gives character in the dialect but fails to deliver on an interesting story. I found myself oftentimes wondering where the climax exactly was, and once I'd pinpointed it I was disappointed at how truly mediocre the most riveting point in the story was. It feels as if there is no payoff to this book, though we are told that our main character is struggling, we do not see her change much other than she "put the past behind her". What?! That's our character development? I think the bare minimum was done for the story, and the book is only saved by its southern influence and skillful composition.
