This is a new low for Call of Duty, and more specifically, Treyarch. I don't like this game at all. The multiplayer could be fun, but there is no space for beginners.
It's hard to rise in the ranks unless you are good, but you have to rise in the ranks to get good, which leaves new COD players struggling.
The zombies is terrible. The maps that have been added aren't creative, the story is horrible, and the dialogue is cheesy and try too hard. The zombies mode went from the gritty, bloody, and intense struggle for survival to almost something from a bad TV show.
One thing that I have to give the game credit for is the graphics. The game looks pretty good, and is easy to run on PC. Most of the maps look beautiful with the updated graphics.
The thing that bugs me the most, however, is the trade of campaign for battle royale. In the past, campaigns have been some of the main selling points for a Call of Duty. From Cuba with Alex Mason to outer space with Nick Reyes, the campaign mode has always been important to the Call of Duty series.
I feel that, without the campaign, the multiplayer makes no sense, because there is almost no backstory as to why the players are fighting. Although there are backstories for the specialists, that doesn't fully encapsulate the background for the battles. Without the campaign, the battles become pointless, because the maps loose their significance to the players.
Whenever I get angry when playing online in an old Call of Duty, whether it is because of toxic players, or I just played a bad match, I just switch to campaign mode. It is still entertaining because of the shooting, but it also brings in a story aspect. After playing the campaign for a little while, I calm down and I go back to multiplayer.
With Black Ops 4, this isn't possible. Without campaign, the main selling point of the game is the multiplayer. If a player gets bored with the multiplayer, he or she is bored with the game.
All in all, another Call of Duty with wasted potential. If I could rate this with a percentage, I'd give it a 10%, solely based on the graphics. Terrible game.
