Imagine splitting a human hair over 40 times… The Mitutoyo CRYSTA-Apex V CNC Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) can measure with a maximum permissible length measurement error of just 1.7 μm + 3L/1000 (ISO 10360-2), where 1.7 microns is roughly 1/40th the thickness of a typical human hair (≈70 μm). In practical terms, at a 100 mm measurement length, the uncertainty is approximately 2 μm. This machine combines: * High-accuracy bridge-style CNC measurement * Real-time temperature compensation for improved accuracy * Measuring speeds up to 8 mm/s * High-speed axis motion up to 519 mm/s * Smart Factory / IoT integration with Status Monitor, Condition Monitor, and MeasurLink compatibility * Excellent repeatability for demanding aerospace, automotive, medical, and precision manufacturing applications. I spent a number of years using this CMM throughout my machining career, inspecting everything from aerospace components to precision tooling. There’s something incredibly satisfying abou

Just released the first part of a brand new course teaching Autodesk Fusion for absolute beginners called Module 1 - design. In this video, you’ll get a complete beginner-friendly walkthrough of Autodesk Fusion, starting with an overview of the interface, preferences, themes, and project organization before creating your first design file. You’ll learn how to navigate the canvas, browser, timeline, and view cube; work confidently with metric and imperial units; and build a simple part using both primitives and sketches. The lesson introduces construction planes, proper terminology, zooming and navigation best practices, toolbar customization, and essential habits like saving often. You’ll then recreate the same part using sketch-based modeling and explore the fundamentals of parametric design by editing sketches upstream to automatically update downstream features. By the end of Module 1 – Design, you’ll understand Fusion’s core workflow and be ready to take the same part into C
