The director and writer of this movie claims that it’s supposed to be satirical. However, its main points (hookup apps are sexist and generally bad, electronics are also bad and the real world is good) are such preachy boomer messages that they instantly fall flat. Teen movies written by adults who know nothing about how college and high school students actually act are always bad. This movie makes no attempt to connect with its intended audience and comes across as insulting towards young adults. Its portrayal of men as horny assholes and women as airheaded bimbos is laughably bad. The production doesn’t make up for the bad story at all- it’s actually just as bad as the plot. This movie doesn’t show any understanding of how to make a point through satire. You done bad, Ann! Do us all a favor and don’t try to make a young adult movie again.
