I adore Tom Hanks and find his acting extraordinary, but this film lacked in characterisation and sympathy with the characters. It was a war film, a boys film, but I felt no empathy for the characters. You were not drawn into their personalities and it never felt like you knew them. In Captain Phillips, Sully and essentially all other Tom Hanks films, I really cared about the characters. But not in this film. Not one of Tom Hanks better films. In fact I would go so far as to say, it is bottom of my list....and I am a real Tom Hanks fan.. submitted by Joanna Goodman
