Ilana Glazer makes this whole movie watchable. She's great. The husband is terrible and wooden. Had he done his homework he would have watched John Cassavetes in Rosemary's Baby, which is a fantastic film. This film is badly written. There is very little plot development and a bunch of loose ends. What is the purpose for the Magical Negress line? That is a slap in the face, which is unnecessary. I know about the stereotype, but why is the Magical Midwife in on the baby scam? How would populating the world with more white males serve *her*? The only non-superficial element was Ilana's excellent acting. And [ATTN: SPOILER] why do they show her being so callous to the little boys? This is blunt, crass, and obvious. The beauty of Rosemary's Baby was that she HAD to love the baby, because it was half her. And there ARE doctors who have used only their own sperm who are being outed through genetics sites...it was no surprise at all. Also the story arc of these films is supposed to top out 2/3s of the way through. I am getting really sick of movies that peak at 3/4s... and then have nowhere to go but to just explain and fizzle out. So unsatisfying.
