I heard a lot of hype over this film, and was expecting something real good when I walked into theaters, but to be honest it did not fulfill these expectations. I'm sure there are better films with worse reviews because they came out of a time when we wanted more from our movies than we evidently do now. I though all the acting (including the dog) was very good but I found the animation oddly jerky. I know that pseudo cartoon style is all the rage nowadays but I found it distracting, and honestly would've been fine if they kept it the same as the old Dreamworks style. The humor was good but perhaps a wee bit crass if that's something you're concerned about as a parent, and I can definitely see the wolf giving some kids nightmares. But it is a pretty good film which manages to add in (somewhat sloppily) some interesting themes, so I'd say Puss and Boots: the Last Wish, is worth a watch for the whole family as an at least average, B- film.
