Not perfect, but still a fantastic adaptation. I'm a fan of the book, so already deeply familiar with the factions and political landscape around the story brought to screen. The film doesn't get overly bogged down in the intricate details, so it's a more accessible, but it is still a slow burn. That said, I felt it did what was necessary to pay respect to the source material without bloating the runtime too much - splitting it into 2 parts was a good call.
I do miss the narrations of the princess Irulan and thought the introduction of the planet Dune and the spice Melange was way too underplayed and the title overlay was a joke.
Kudos to everyone involved with part 1 and hopefully part 2 doesn't disappoint. With what's been delivered so far, I'm rooting for their commercial success, so more films like them get made.
