Beautiful looking but endlessly frustrating game. It has so much potential that it hurts even more to see it disappoint so much. On top of the flat and featureless characters, a storyline that feels too abstracted from my actual tasks (I'm trying to find the holograms to get the map for the jedi for what again? Why am I freeing wookies? We're trying to restart the jedi order? Even though I know we fail because I've seen the movies? Why am I doing anything I'm doing?), and the most uninteresting protagonist in video game history, the controls and mechanics are an actual nightmare. The fighting system is so slow and painstaking that I never feel like my button pressing is reacting in real time to the character's attacks or parries. I am a good game player but I had to put it on easy to even remotely enjoy myself. And the platforming seems like it should be fun but is so unreasonably hard. And not in a fun way. I like hard platforming, but here my failures always have the quality of the game's controls being poorly made, and not the puzzle being challenging in an appropriate way. I'm frustrated 90% of the time I'm playing. And I would but up with this for a better story, but, sadly, Cal's generic mold of a white guy adventure hero doesn't do it for me.
