started great with an interesting premise, but kind of got a bit convoluted and boring around season 4. Somewhat predictably this show plays fast and loose with the traditional gender roles. Sometimes itโs interesting and it works well, but at other times (with other characters) it can start to feel kinda preachy and forced. Although a super powered female vampire slayer is hardly a fresh new idea, and the notion of a post apocalyptic earth overrun with undead isnโt exactly original, somehow despite this, Van Hellsing definitely has its own voice, and a unique story to tell. The backbone to this show is its interesting lore, including traditional supernatural gothic stoker style vampires mixed with contemporary scientific ideas. The action and horror scenes are generally decent for the most part with two or three exceptional moments over the course of the show. Van Hellsings two biggest strengths are its makeup/special effects and the side stories/characters.The acting varies in quality wildly but some of the talent (like the actor who plays sam) deliver memorable and charismatic performances that will stay with you for a long time.
