The show is a perfect forgery of the sitcoms I grew up watching ... Dick Van Dyke, Jeannie, and even older such as Honeymooners. The writers, producers, directors, actors and even set design have painstakingly strived to replicate their ancestors. The scenes are blocked the same, the actors get into position to deliver their sanitized humorous lines. Did anyone notice Wanda channeling Alice Cramden's voice?
Of course the black and white filming, but so much more went into cloning these antiquities. The canned laughter is essential to that effort. It was even over used - ad nauseum - as they did back then.
In short, it was the perfect reproduction of a bygone genre.
If that was their intent, congratulations, but I do not want to warch Green Acres any more.
