while following much of the story line, the creators of this film chose to focus on the imagery versus the plot. Dune is a very extensive and vivid novel and probably best portrayed in at least two films, but it still requires a good balance of exposition and visual effect. The film should have been planned as a stand alone film, with an ending that conveyed finality all the while leaving a few unanswered questions to be taken up in a sequel. You want people to want to find out what happens next ; not go , wait are they really going to end the film there?. As cliffhangers go, this is a short drop..The movie does do justice to the epic that Dune is. They just miss the mark on a few points, but overall, it's a good watch.
