This is the game that killed the franchise, for me at least. This game made me unplug my Xbox and focus on PS4 exclusively.
The campaign starts off mid-action with cliché soliders doing soldier things. It's difficult trying to understand what's going on because you'd have to have read at least two books prior to this game.
You barley get to play as Master Chief and the occasions when you do, he's just as boring and exactly like the other characters that share his spotlight. The boss fights are all exactly the same and too easy. You go through the whole game with a team of annoying stereotypical solider NPCs so the feeling of the last Spartan fighting an entire army alone is completely thrown out.
343 decided to completely copy Call Of Duty's formula here and it's so obvious and annoying that I'm shocked that Activision didn't sue.
This game is the worst thing that could happen to such a great series and I hope the next Halo game will be rebooted all the way to what was happening in Halo 1-3.
I think where Halo 4-5 dropped the ball on this franchise is how they view Master Chief. Bungee created a character not unlike Doom guy. A powerful (almost) silent protagonist that can take on an armada by himself and jump from orbit, land on his face and walk away in the next scene.Yet, Chief can speak openly and honestly to Cortana and cares about people around him. His character arc was always somewhat of a positive character arc, showing that this Cyborg-man can eventually care and is more than a weapon. When 343 took the reigns they saw Cheif character arc as a flat arc and changed it to a negative arc. He's a criminal now that needs to be killed. He's has emotions that he struggles with because he loves Cortana? Master Chief is so direstically different that 343 added five other characters to hide it. I could write souch more about how Halo 5s story is such a detriment to the series. But other reviews here already have.
Don't buy/play this game.
