The book is good. There are many concepts and ideas to explore and connect.
Many complain about the writing style, citing that its uncomprehensible and end up dropping it. However, the lack of punctuation and grammatically issues add to the possibilities of interpretation. Some may say this is where the book fails, however with how descriptive and beautiful some scenes are painted by McCarthy, I see it as an magnificent choice.
I will say that most of the problems with apprehension is based on genius word choice that may not be understood. You will learn a lot of vocabulary by reading this book, and maybe even a couple of spanish. While reading this book, I needed a dictionary on my right, and a translator on my left. Bonus points if you get a map of the west and track the story's setting.
The Wild West has always been an environment for great story telling, whether its romanticization or documentation. McCarthy's interpretation creates a haunting, freaky, and brutal view on humanity and life, which brings about new meaning to seperate us from the animals.
