Where to start?
I may never need to see another film in my life.
I may never be able to view another film in my life.
I will probably never be as moved, captivated, emotional, enraged, or engaged by a film again.
To me Rewind is the most haunting and skillfully crafted portrayal of about the most disturbing story I've ever heard. The convergence of Sasha's courage to confront his and his sister's abuse and abusers, and his family's tragic experiences with such honesty, vulnerability, and courage -- blows me away and will stay with me for a long time. And then there's the filmcraft - which is beyond imagination!
Of all the poignant moments -- actually every moment falls into that category....but I realized that I had stopped breathing when Sasha and his sister -- now adults - held a long and deep embrace....and their microphones brought us their joined heartbeats....beating, beating, beating, beating.....and beating together. And I think that at this moment - we in the audience re-calibrated our own heartbeats to match theirs.
What a gift this film is!
