I would absolutely recommend you watch this show if you're into Hannibal the character. It expands on his personality, making him more of a character you can connect to. The Character development of Hannibal Lecter is relatable, he's less of a monster than he was portrayed in the Thomas Harris books. If you've watched the series, I would not recommend you read the books, it will spoil your view of the show. The books even ruin your view of your favorite unstable FBI agent, Will Graham.
The show will keep you on your toes, it's something where you have to be a step ahead, put yourself in their shoes. Think like Will Graham. It can make the FBI agents sound stupid, but if Hannibal was caught in season one, I wouldn't have seen a point in all of it. When Hannibal was caught in season three, it wasn't a big chase, he could have escaped. His love for Will Graham was strong, and that was his only choice.
Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter have a romantic bond, and it doesn't just show up after season two, it's always been there, some people have just shut it off and seen it as something more platonic. At the beginning, Will Graham admits to the fact he doesn't like eye contact, but when he's with his Psychiatrist, he makes full eye contact.
But in all, you should watch the show. It's remarkable, like a show I've never seen before. Mads, Hugh, Laurence, Caroline. Their acting is what sets this apart from the other adaptations.
"I feel like I have dragged you into my world" - Dr. Lecter would be an appropriate quote for this situation. Bon Appetit
